Color & Gold Jewelry

Each Color & Gold jewelry piece contains a miniature hand-gilded illumination under glass carefully imbedded in a wood or metal setting. The mm size in the titles refers to the size of the glass. I started making jewelry in the spring of 2019. I can spend hours gilding a paper illumination and sometimes make a mistake rendering them unsuitable for framing so I started making jewelry out of the ones I accidentally ruined as a way to give them a second life and thus began my journey into wearable art. Later, I started the abstract jewelry style as a way to make use of the pieces of gold leaf that become too small for efficient use when gilding other projects. This work is done on the back of the glass so I never know quite what the abstract ones will look like until they are dry and can turn them over. No two pieces are exactly alike. The charm earrings started after waking up one morning with the strong feeling that I needed earrings with small compasses! Please allow for some variation in the color of the jewelry compared to what is on screen. The glass work is glued not welded into the bezels and there are no prongs holding the glass in so please avoid dropping the jewelry from a height onto hard surfaces as this can disrupt the glue's bond. The glue though is water resistant enough to withstand a day in the rain, swimming, showers and baths. I would avoid soaking them for days though I'm not sure why anyone would.
