Kintsugi Bell SOLD
24k gold leaf and contemporary Kintsugi methods.
First Thoughts: Such a simple piece but I have so much to say. Perhaps if it was a bell of a different shape or didn’t have the DC on the front I might associate this symbol with old timey school. Instead it sits for me as a symbol of liberty and freedom. They mean as many things as there are people and times in life. We all feel trapped in different ways and to different degrees. Humanity is hemmed in from sharing our talents and unique selves with each other due to prejudice, injustice, war, lack of money for education, housing, decent food and healthcare. We are held back because we can’t get from point A to B due to infrastructures only available to those of a particular economy or bodies that move in a particular way. Or we may have every seeming ability from a cursory outsider perspective to live fulfilling lives but are trapped by an abusive relationship, the scars of childhoods, past trauma or a mindset ingrained from a young age that it’s not safe to associate with people beyond a perceived idea of similar, by grief or gilt or addictions or simply not having experienced yet any evidence that what we have to give or who we are is valued outside of our own mind and vision. Finding even narrow gains on freedom can be exhausting so I applaud those who keep striving and those who do the equivalent of removing the drink can rings from turtles to their fellow humans and other living creatures. Sometimes we can’t do it alone and it’s the friends and family around us or professionals that care who make all the difference in the world to help grow our wings back. On the lighter side sometimes we have💡moments that just lower the heart rate a bit. Maybe it’s just deciding to finally show up as is.
Second Thoughts: Maybe the tone isn’t as exact as before but it still makes a sound and its not hiding what it went through to become whole again.
