Contemporary Kintsugi

Kintsugi is made up of the Japanese words for "gold" and "join/patch" and is the meaningful method of repair that contemplates and honors the break rather than hiding it or discarding the whole item allowing the piece to still serve as it had before only now with some extra sparkle! In the traditional process, there are many days of curing involved and the final result is food safe.

Here, I've collected a few items symbolic of things I think stand in need of and are worthy of repair in human existence and smashed them with a hammer. Then I put them back together with a non-traditional method that is not food safe. They can be handled but the gilding leaf is very thin so please be gentle.

Hand made item: expect nuances.
