"Mayan Blue Star” - Original, Framed

24k gold leaf, watercolor Compass and straightedge construction ~2.5"x2.5" in an 9"x9" frame. One of my incredible geometry teachers from London, Adam Williamson, taught a roundel from the 14th Century Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Hassan in Cairo, Egypt and at the center was an eight-fold star. I used the same method and adapted it here for twelve. The paint is commercial and claims to have authentic Mayan Blue but I didn't make it so I can't say for sure. Maya Blue dates back to 800 and was comprised of indigo and clay. In the Second photo, it is in the middle.
